Tin, tungsten, tantalum, gold, cobalt and mica are minerals identified as “conflict minerals”. These minerals are necessary for the creation of objects that we all use every day: cell phones, tablets, cars, airplanes, light bulbs, and many other objects included in the category of electrical and electronic equipment. Some militias and rebel groups finance themselves through the sale of these minerals. Exel’s objective is to promote responsible practices by companies supplying these minerals from high-risk areas affected by armed conflicts, in order to reduce their financing with the proceeds of the exploitation of local minerals. At Exel we carry out a careful analysis of the supply chain, guaranteeing the certified origin of the mineral elements used.
